Thilo Sarrazins Buch „Deutschland schafft sich ab“ provoziert einen Aufschrei der Empörung...
Sarrazin's new book: Germany Does Away with Itself;German Federal Bank board member Thilo Sarrazin presented his book Deutschland schafft sich ab (Germany abolishes itself), which takes a critical perspective on Islam, on Monday in Berlin. Criticism of Germany's immigration policy is legitimate, writes Europe's press, but it should stop short of offending Muslims.
Almanya'da Merkez Bankası Yönetim Kurulu Üyesi Thilo Sarrazin'in ırkçı yorumlarla dolu kitabı piyasada. Sarrazin, Almanya kendini yok ediyor adlı kitabında Türkleri hedef alıyor; göçmenlerin, Almanların zeka seviyesini düşürdüğünü söylüyor.

I guess I am the only one who doesn't condemn Sarrazin's words 100%. I totally disagree with his theories, but:
1. Berlin's mayor Wowereit declared 2010 to be the "year of integration", and what happened? Nothing. I guess Sarrazin's words started a valuable discussion within the people about immigration & integration, though he insulted lots of people. And now Wowereit can't do anything but condemn Sarrazin's words. Wow, what an idea.
2. I don't believe that most of the "non-immigrant" Germans condemn Sarrazin's words 100%. They have the chance to look inside themselves, to really think about it. Why they never talk with old people of Turkish origin in restaurants & cafes and hence never know what they do, think, like, hate etc. If people thought about it and *then* condemn Sarrazin, okay. But I condemn copying opinions from newspapers. Many people think they must condemn Sarrazin because everyone does - that's the wrong way.
3. One could call Sarrazin's staying with his opinion stubborn and arrogant, but I miss this stubbornness at most of the other German politicians. They go with people's opinion, pledge something and then just do everything to keep themselves in power and wealth.
But after all, I clearly neglect Sarrazin's theories and his insulting campaign for his book...
