Case-Shiller housing price index
#189377 / viewed 4110 timesThe S&P / Case-Shiller Home Price Index was produced as a collaboration of three financial industry experts, Mr. Case, Mr. Shiller and Mr. Weiss. The latter of the three was, at the time, a graduate student working for Mr. Shiller. He later convinced Case and Shiller to form a company called Case-Shiller-Weiss, whose aim was to sell information to the financial markets, based on their data analyses and reports. Since 2002, their index has been owned by Fiserv, which together with Standard & Poor's, made the information available commercially to financial traders and media, and drove its popularity to the point where it has become the staple index for reporting and analyzing the average prices of American homes. This editorial business cartoon pokes fun at the value of American homes and their parody parity with the USD, represented here as Bucky, the cartoon character of the greenback. The Case-Shiller housing price index / USD cartoon was distributed by OptionsClick in the binary options news of January 3, 2013 on http://blog.optionsclick.com/2013/01/03/asian-stocks-higher-usd-rallies where it was presented for people who trade binary options online as well as for people who read the economic news editorial pages.
