I didn't really like her, neither the character nor the actress in this film.
At that time Lara Croft of "Tomb Raider" was very popular, and she reminded me of her. Besides, "Dr. Jones" is a silly hint on a famous Harrison Ford character ;)
I think she was a little bit "too sexy" in that movie and didn't convince me of her profession... more like a prom night queen.
But I liked Richards in "Starship Troopers" and loved her in the simple teenie film "Wild Things".
Ok, 'nuff said. Greetings to you, Ian, keep this great thing up! Think about a book with all oh-oh-seven characters...
